Introducing stage 1: Piran - Škofljica (168.7 km)

The start of the stage and the race will be at Tartini Square in Piran, certainly one of the most picturesque in Slovenia. The first part of the stage will be very dynamic and technical, while the last part will be flater.

What do the experts predict?

ANDREJ HAUPTMAN: "The finish of the stage is for sprinter, while the first part has a dynamic climb. We always get breakaways on the first day, classic cyclists will look for an opportunity to escape, teams with sprinters will try to neutralise their efforts. Crucial parts of the stage are climb to Črni Kal and the part across the Karst, where there is no flat."

UROŠ MURN: "There will be no rest on the first climb of the race, the main group will break up and a breakaway group will form. It will then be difficult to catch this group, because the teams with sprinters will have to wait on their riders. Teams usually get back together on the way back to the valley, but that's not the case here. Slovenian teams will look for opportunities in the breakaway group, but they can also be present in the sprint."
