Technical background of the TV broadcast – how does Slovenian-Spanish-Dutch connection works? Fantastic!

Slovenia is experiencing a real promotional boom, in many ways thanks to live broadcast of 24th edition of the Slovenian tour on Eurosport an on Slovenian national television. Behind the broadcast is extreme amount of precise and well organized work of many people. For many this is first experience like this, which is why the broadcast team deserves a special commendation and all credits!

Cycling caravan that started in Koper on Thursday and will arrive to Novo mesto today, and of course everything connected to the race, goes live to the global audience. Two voices follow the race on the Slovenian national television: one of Tomaž Kovšca, sports commentator, and Martin Hvastija, ex professional cyclists and great cycling expert. David Čermelj is their reporter on the ground and helps with the broadcast and sends daily reports for the sports news.

Live comments in the Paris studio of Eurosport is done by two cycling experts - Phillipe Celieres and Magnus (Maggy) Bäckstedt. They voice goes to global audience.

Over 50 people are working on the race for the Slovenian national television, their team is working closely with Spanish production house ISBTV (International Sport Broadcasting TV), meanwhile Dutch partner North East Pennsiylvania Netherlands is responsible for the transmission of live broadcast. There are 20 crew members in their team, and they work together with their Slovenian colleagues – in control of the whole broadcast is Spanish director Ursula Romero.

Next to production vehicles of both teams we also have three cameraman on the motorcycles; signal goes from there to helicopter and then further on to the airplane and the satellite. From there they signal goes back to the TV screens of the report vehicle on the ground. From there the live picture goes to millions of TV screens around the world.

Helicopter is also equipped with special gyroscopic camera, plus there are four more cameraman on the ground.

Lastly there are graphics that are provided by STING Trade.

This is how it’s possible to follow all the best action from 24^th Tour of Slovenia and how it’s possible to see the race from different angles and with all important information – with picture, sound and data. There is an amazing organization in the background of the broadcast and complex cooperation among several different team – everything to give you live images from the sports event that will introduce Slovenia to global audience. Organization of the race is another huge operation, lead by cycling team Adria Mobil and their partners; in total there are over 1000 people working on this race!
