Rogla will surly decide winners of 2017 Tour of Slovenia
Third stage of 2017 Tour of Slovenia will start in Celje and finish on one of the peaks of Pohorje mountains. Rogla is very popular winter & summer resort, with extraordinarily nature for sports activities. Rogla lies on the altitude 1517 meters above see level and according to the statistics for 2015 it only has one permanent resident.
Of course there are much more people in the municipality of Zreče, area underneath Rogla. This area is also fully committed to tourism, at the same time the area also has many strong industrial companies. Zreče area was first colonized around 4000 years ago, and a proof of that lies in the archeological findings on the Brinjeva gora and on Gračič. Most important among the castles in the area was castle Freudenberg that stood on the hill underneath Brinjeva mountain and was first mentioned in 1224. Freudenberg means “happy hill” in German and this is the origin for the name Zreče.
Rogla and the “lucky hill” that will host finish of the third stage could be also lucky for climbers on the race. This is where they could get enough advantage to claim the overall victory. We expect Rafal Majka to attack, but surly there are also other candidates, especially young Slovenian talents. Among them is also Žiga Jerman, who is white for second day in a row.
For the stage winner a very special trophy is ready, made from steel in Unior. It will be presented by Boris Podvršnik, mayor of Zreče.
Zreče are very successful economic and touristic city, with spots center and climate resort on Rogla and thermal spa in Zreče. This are is also known for its industry, especially manufacturing of hand tools and in the past also weapons. Companies like Unior, SwatyComet, and GKN Driveline Slovenija have home there, and we shouldn’t go by all the farmers that are producing high quality food. Trophy for the stage winner was created in Unior, company that is very known in the world of cycling – they are one of the biggest producers of bicycle tools and official partner of WorldTour teams Sky, Movistar, Trek-Segafredo and Quick-Step Floors.
