8 is good, but 9 is even better!
Competition on 25th edition of Tour of Slovenia just became stronger! UAE Team Emirates has joined the race rooster in the last minute, making it total of 9 World Tour teams competing on the race!
2018 Tour of Slovenia will be one of the strongest stops of the UCI Europe Tour, with 9 World Tour teams, 5 professional continental teams, 7 continental teams and Slovenian national team.
UAE Team Emirates already raced on Slovenian roads in the past, with Jan Polanc in their ranks the team is also very well known to the Slovenian fans (Jan is not confirmed for the race). Team was not on original list of participants, and with 22 teams already on board it was hard to sign them additionally. But now open spot appeared and both the team and the organizers grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
Final start lists will be confirmed just before the race, but we already know that Rafal Majka will defend his 2017 victory. So far the “A list” includes the names like Primož Roglič, Mark Cavendish, Marcel Kittel, Caleb Ewan, Matej Mohorič, Luka Mezgec and Jani Brajkovič. But be sure there are more big names on the way to Slovenia!
