Kids Tour of Slovenia (5th – 7th July)

A record number of young cyclists from fifteen countries will race on the roads of Dolenjska this weekend, most of them, of course, are cyclists from Slovenia. Kids Tour of Slovenia starts on 5^th July in Novo mesto and continues in Dolenjske Toplice, Kostanjevica na Krki and Šentjernej.

Among approximately 380 youngsters are surly the names that will shape the world cycling scene in ten years or more, but their talent is already germinating now, at the "kid's" version of the Tour of Slovenia. The number of participants also shows the development of the whole scene and the sport, which is gaining wind in its wings thanks to the success of Slovenian cycling superstars, as well as riders such as Eržen, Glivar and others who have proven themselves through hard work and have made their way into the development programs of the biggest teams. The Kids Tour of Slovenia is a great opportunity to show good work and is a stepping stone on the way to the elite categories.

"The race is unique because of the route, as we have a time trial, mountain race, a criterium and a road race. The final winners will have to be successful in all disciplines, which is the most important thing for young cyclists," explained Srečko Glivar, Race Director, adding, "This race is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, of its kind in this part of Europe. We would like to see the race continue to develop, more foreign teams to take part, and for another place in Slovenia to take over the organization of a stage.”

The race will feature four stages in three days:
Stage 1 (5^th July) - Novo mesto, Dolenje Karteljevo / individual time trial
Stage 2 (6^th July) - Dolenjske Toplice, Podturn - Baza 20 / mountain race
Stage 3 (6^th July) - Kostanjevica na Krki / criterium
Stage 4 (7^th July) - Šentjernej / road race
