Team had send a preliminary list of riders for 2017 Tour of Slovenian back in the beginning of the year, in these days the organizers are receiving final confirmations. German team Bora – Hansgrohe has reviled their riders first. We won't see world champion Peter Sagan on the race, but with great pleasure we announce that Rafal Majka from Poland will race in Slovenia.

Cycling fans are already excited after final confirmation of first riders on the biggest Slovenian road race. Rafal Majka is a world-class cyclists and represents a challenge for all other competitors on the race. He became famous as one of Alberto Contador’s most loyal helpers on Tour de France, he also won on three hard mountain stages on Tour. Majka is one of the best climbers in the world, he also won polka dot jersey on 2016 Tour de France. He was bronze from the Olympic games in Rio; he was even close to victory, but Greg Van Avermaet and Jakob Fuglsang caught up with him less than two kilometers before the finish. Van Avermaet won gold on that race, Fuglsang won Tour of Slovenia in 2009.

Rafal Majka is in top form also in 2017 season. He won second stage on Amgen Tour of California and was in the lead for couple of days. George Bennett won the race on the end, he took the lead from Majka on the pre-last stage.

“Rafa will come to Slovenia straight after an altitude camp and therefore after a long training block. Before the National Championships the Tour of Slovenia will be the final Tour de France test for our Polish champion. We don’t plan to go for the GC at all costs but especially on the stage to Rogla the double KOM winner of the Tour de France will test his legs. BORA-Hansgrohe has good memories on the Tour of Slovenia as in 2014 (than NetApp Endura) we won the race with Tiago Machado…,” explains Christian Pömer, Director Sportif at BORA-Hansgrohe.

Rafal Majka will be a favorite for the third stage of Tour of Slovenia – a stage with the long mountain finish on Rogla. There are still couple of days to go before the start of the race and anything can happen, but we hope to really see this Polish champ on our roads.
