Giro d'Italia winner also raced on Tour of Slovenia
Australian Jai Hindley (BORA - hansgrohe) triumphantly lifted the Trofeo Senza Fine Cup in Verona on Sunday and wrote new chapter in road cycling history. Years ago, Jai also raced in Slovenia and already at that time attracted the attention of the professional public.
The Tour of Slovenia 2018 race was historic. The green jersey was won by Primož Roglič, accompanied by Rigoberto Uran and Matej Mohorič at the overall award ceremony. Tadej Pogačar was fourth overall and the best young cyclist of the race. What a group of legends!
Not so far behind was Jai Hindley, then a member of the Sunweb team, who finished the race in 11th place. Jai was 3rd in the competition for young cyclists, behind Pogačar and his teammate Michael Storer. However, he still had the honors to step on the top of the podium as his team Sunweb won the team classifications that year, which was a great success for the young squad.
At the time, Jai was already noticed, and many predicted a very successful future for him, he was getting ready for something big. Something big happened in the 2020 season when he was 2nd at the Giro d’Italia, and a win was not impossible either. This year, the story repeated itself in a way, but without a real chance of a surprise in the last stage. Pink jersey is forever his.
Bravo Jai!
