In Novo Mesto Cycling has tradition
Among Dolenjska hills, less than an hour's drive by motorway from Ljubljana and Zagreb, less than two hours from the sea and the Alps, lies Novo Mesto. Surrounded by the Krka River it lies casually only on a panoramic photo. The metropolis of Dolenjska is growing, evolving, looking for new opportunities; in particular, it offers its residents a welcoming environment for both life and work, from hiking in Gorjanci, to the most modern pharmaceutical laboratories.
In Novo mesto people love cycling. Bicycle racing too. This is evident in the annual event at the conclusion of Tour of Slovenia which has its finish line in Novo mesto, Sandi Papež’s legendary win in the domestic Balkan Championship in 1985, and, most of all, this year’s 45th anniversary of the only Slovenian professional cycling team − Adria Mobil. It is difficult to imagine any major cycling event in Slovenia without Adria Mobil as they contribute to the events both on the organizational and the competitive level. In recent years they have also established a new tradition as they organised the Adria Mobil Grand Prix, which will this year be held for the third time and can, thus, be celebrated as another cycling event in Novo mesto.
