Statistically Slovenia is by far the best
Slovenian riders have 11 overall victories in 23 years of Tour of Slovenia, which ranks country on the first place among 52 countries that had representatives on this international race in all these years. Italy won 3-times, Russia 2-times. In total riders from ten different countries celebrated the overall victory. Slovenia also leads in the number of stage victories – their riders won 48-times!
Nine different Slovenian cyclists won Tour of Slovenia overall: Boris Premužič, Valter Bonča, Branko Filip, Martin Derganc, Tomaž Nose, Janez Brajkovič & Primož Roglič took it once, Mitja Mahorič & Jure Golčer won twice.
In total we saw 128 stages in 23 years, 48 of them were won by Slovenians, next is Italy with 40 and Germany with 9 victories. 26 different names is signed under those 48 victories. Slovenians were also fastest on the team time trial in 1993.
